bloom-ingperfect said: Katie Leclerc from Switched at Birth, I found out, is actually 27 playing a high schooler. In 2005 she was on Veronica Mars as an actual teen yet in about season 5 of Big Bang Theory she got set up on a date with Raj - she's covering all her bases.

Katie Leclerc is a great example of someone who bounces around playing both teens and adults at the same time. She also played an adult on Community last season, while still playing a teen on Switched at Birth.

Here’s a link to my original Katie Leclerc actual teen post (including pics of her from Veronica Mars and Switched at Birth).

Thanks for the submission!

Interesting article today from the BBC about actual teens (the actual phenomenon, not this tumblr). Click for the article.
"Perhaps one of the most famous examples of "acting down" is Sally Thomsett, who played Phyllis in the Railway Children. She was 20 when her character was just 11. "That’s a large age gap because a lot happens between 11 and 20, you’ve got all your teenage years," she says.

Are you allowed to reblog your own posts? With Guardians of the Galaxy blowing up the box office, I thought people might be interested in this post from awhile ago. CUTIE. PIE.

oh my god yes Clark is gigantic and about 30 and he’s just walking around Smallville High like HELLO FELLOW KIDS

Dan, Bonnie, Rupert and Emma in 19-years-later epilogue make up

Kids are meant to be like 35 here. As if Emma Watson would let herself go like this.

This one surprised me. In American Pie, Jennifer Coolidge (born 1961) plays Stifler’s Mom. Stifler is played by Seann William Scott (born 1976).

Age difference = 15 years

Jennifer Coolidge was only 38 in the first American Pie movie, you guys. Crazy.

The weird thing is how Joseph Gordon-Levitt grew up and now looks EXACTLY LIKE HEATH LEDGER. Because in this movie, can you imagine that was what was going to happen to JGL’s face?

On Reign, Anna Walton (born 1979) plays the mother of Torrance Coombs (born 1983).
Age difference = 4 years + magic “pagan” blood sacrifices

Today’s post from my other tumblr veryyoungtvparents! It ties in with this tumblr’s theme too, though, b/c I’m pretty sure 31-year-old Torrance is meant to be playing a teen on this show. Which makes his mother’s age allllmost work but not really.

On Lost Girl, Inga Cadranel (born 1978) plays the mother of Anna Silk (born 1974).
Age difference = -4 years + unconventional paranormal aging of succubi

In the upcoming film The Giver, Katie Holmes (born 1978) plays the mother of Brenton Thwaites (born 1989).

Age difference = 11 years

Now, this is a dystopian future where people don’t raise their biological children but it’s also a world where you choose your job at age 12 (or 16, in the movie, I think?) so I doubt they’d give a new baby to an 11 year old to raise.

Are you following my other tumblr, veryyoungtvparents yet?? It’s not just TV parents, I’m also featuring posts about very young movie parents too — like Katie Holmes, above.

Oh hell yes. And the teens in this movie are meant to be 16, I think. Here’s the image I used in my original Stockard Channing post:

PS — here’s a bind-up I did of all the ages of the Grease cast. Part one - Pink Ladies and part two - T-Birds and other dudes.

And here’s a link to all of my Grease-themed posts.
